Girls set ablaze motorcycle after altercation with two boys


Two boys and two girls allegedly in an inebriate state set a Splender motorcycle of a local youth on fire after a minor altercation at Rajguru market on Sunday night. Incident spread tension in the area as the entire incident took place in a crowded market Alleged boys-girls were in white colour Swift car (Ludhiana number) and golden colour Verna car (Chd no.) And had later fled from the spot. Police got the numbers of both the cars and alert was sounded in the city. Additional nakas were also installed to trace the accused. Incident occured at 7.30 pm when youth Arshdeep and Manjot Singh, both are DJ in a local hotel, had come to the market to take admission in a gym. After inquiring about admission when they came out, a Swift car was found parked near their bike in which they alleged two boys and two girls were having drink. “As I went to pick my bike, one of the boy came out of the car and leveled allegations that I stared at girls. He then thrashed me. Then the alleged boy picked up a brick and for safety we both friends ran towards market. After twenty minutes when we came back, we were stunned to see that our bike was set on fire. Bike got completely charred in the incident” Arshdeep.who owns bike told Tribune. An eye witness said when the bike borne friends had fled, a boy and two girls were loudly talking to set the motorycle on fire to teach a lesson to the bike borne. Boy brought a match box and after removing the oil pipe of bike, set the same on fire. SHO Sumit Sood said ownership details of car was being obtained to identify the accused. Notably market people alleged that boys and girls have been regularly visiting the market and they used to convert their car into bar. Depsite this practice has been going on from long, local police has failed to keep a check.
