Speeding Mercedes kills two at Ludhiana; driver flees

Ludhiana, July 16

Two people were killed when a speeding Mercedes hit a scooter outside Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) on Ferozepur road in the early hours of Sunday.

Airbags in the Mercedes popped open at the impact, saving the driver, but two of three people — later identified as Azam (24) and Shippi (28) — riding the scooter were killed instantly. A third rider was severely wounded in the crash.

The driver abandoned the car and fled soon after the accident, Brij Mohan, a station head officer investigating the case, said. Police believe he was drunk.

The victims worked at Wave Mall on Ferozepur road and were heading home at the time of the accident.
