Panel Discussion Programme Organized at DAV College Amritsar

AMRITSAR: A Panel Discussion programme “Samvaad was organized by Department of Mass Communication and Video Production, DAV College, Amritsar  on the theme “One Year of Modi Government.”

The event was organized in order to apprise students about various government policies, their pros and cons.  Among the panelist were Dr Parminder Singh of Department of English, GNDU, Amritsar, Janardhan Sharma, Media Co-ordninator (BJP) & Dilraj Sarkaria, District President, Youth Congress Amritsar. Besides, various media figures from Amritsar also participated in the event.

Principal Dr Rajesh Kumar gave a floral welcome to the guests and said that such events are quite helpful in shaping up future minds and in providing enlightened spark to youngsters. Besides, he congratulated the students of the department for their initiative in bringing different ideologies together on a common platform.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Arif Nazir, Head Department of Mass Communication & Video Production highlighted the various segments of this panel discussion which would directly help and motivate students to participate in political debates and help in the betterment of society.

The discussion revolved around policies of present government which includes Swach Bharat Abhiyan, Atal Pension Yojna, women security issues, Black money etc. Janardhan Sharma while highlighting the role of government presented some facts about how the government is positively working on its promises.

He said that the expected results cannot be attained in one year of tenure and needs some time more. While addressing the students, Dr Parminder Singh raised his voice against various issues prevailing in society and he also gave his suggestions for curbing them.

He emphasized on the working patterns of bureaucrats that how they are exploiting common public with their sham policies. Dilraj Sarkaria also presented his views on the role of good governance and highlighted some core issues where the government needs to be honest and work hard.

The panel discussion concluded with vote of thanks by Prof. H S Walia, Vice Principal of the college. He appreciated the efforts of the Mass Communication Department and students who participated in this discussion. He said that the main need in society is to empower people so that they can take their decisions wisely. He also added that education pays more than any other investment and we should look forward with constructive policies which will be mainly focused on Sustainable development of India.

The event was attended by office bearers of the college including Dr. Sanjay Sharma, Dr. Daizy Sharma, Dr. B.B Yadav and the faculty members of department of mass communication, Prof Sania, Prof Sourav, Prof Vani and others.
