Cycling is becoming more and more popular as a sport in India, also in cycling capital of the world, Ludhiana.
Ludhiana Pedallers Club, the foremost and biggest of recreational club
of Punjab has been promoting cycling in this region since 2012. A team
of cyclists went on a cycling expedition to Bir-Billing area of kangra
in Himachal Pradesh, 18 cyclists of the group led by Ranjodh Singh ,
Patron of the club, Manmohan Singh Bhogal, Chairman and Davinder Singh
Nagi, President created a new record to lead the cyclists to 64 km of
gruelling track in upper reached of Himalaya on a two days mountain
cycling expedition. They started pedalling from Bir to Billing, which
is famous of PARAGLIDING, on an uphill ride of 16 km climbing 4000
feet in less than 12 kms and thereby 12 km of completely off-road
track from Billing to Rajgunda, a remote village in the Kangra Valley.
In 32 kms journey, the riders faced an uphill task scaling the heights
of the Dauladhar range, amidst snow clad peaks and stayed overnight in
a tent, feeling the closeness to nature in totally isolated world of
nature. There is no telephone or wifi connection in that area, so feel
that you are in a totally different atmosphere. The group consisted of
businessmen, doctor, lawyer, professionals and students too, from all
The return trip involved downhill cycling with patience and control on
the bikes, testing the courage and stamina of the riders. All the
members completed the expedition in full spirit and happiness !
This ride story will help the younger generation to join outdoor
supports, be with nature and build their stamina for greater
challenges in life.
