Ludhiana: When we talk about the ocassion of Baisakhi, so many beautiful images float before our eyes. To celebrate this festival, a group of ladies celebrated it energetically keeping in mind the importance and its religious significance at Kaffenation located at Pakhowal road on Wednesday. Gone are the days when festivals like Baisakhi were celebrated in true Punjabi style. Today, life-style of masses has changed and with that, their taste to celebrate the festivals. Still attached to the roots and to celebrate the festival in traditional manner, group of ladies organised a function.
Function was organised to celebrate the festival- the start of the harvesting season. Members wore yellow coloured clothes, they sung Punjabi songs and performed cultural items like giddha and bhangra to celebrate the occasion. The ramp show was also organised where the ladies were awarded with titles of Mrs Kaffenation, Mrs Mutiyar, Mrs Taur, Best Smile, Best dressed and best perfromer.
Bawa Mago , said cafes the best platform to celebrate such occasions with cup of coffee and enthusiasm of group members can’t be expressed in words. Chorographer Bindiya Sood special judge this event all participates honored the Bindiya Sood.
Priya Kapoor says , “We celebrated Baisakhi with games and wore the traditional Phulkari dress to give us a traditional feel of the festival. Dhol beats, ‘Giddha’ and ‘Bhangra’ were the special attraction with which ladies enjoyed fully. This festival is truly a symbol of utmost faith in religion, love and devotion for mother nature.”
Seema Chopra and Ritu Abrol said “We ladies had great fun with the Bollis based on Baisakhi. Everyone was deeply engrossed on the dhol beats. We all felt really attached with our customs and traditions that were performed during the celebration.”
Shelly, Kashish and Rinki who particpated for the baisakhi celebarations at Kaffenation said, “To mark the celebrations of this day we had traditional cuisine, dress up and special dances. Everyone’s feet were tapping on the music beats. Sweets were distributed, old enmities were forgiven and a pledge is taken to make life full of joys.”
Owners of Kaffenation Sukhraj Singh and Sanyam Singla said “Baisakhi is one of the most important festivals of Punjab. It not only signifies the Punjabi New Year but also heralds the harvesting season for the wheat crop. Apart from this it has historical importance for Sikh religion as on this day the Sikh religion was formed. We will be organizing various food festivals/thematic festivals keeping in mind the taste of the Ludhianvis’ taste buds. People of Ludhiana are great food aficionados and are very aware about different kinds of cuisines available all around the world.
