Congress’ Kharar rebel candidate permanently expelled
Chandigarh, February 3
Yet another rebel candidate has come under axe by Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Captain Amarinder Singh.
PPCC general secretary Lakhvinder Kaur Garcha has been permanently expelled from the party’s primary membership for her anti-party activities in Kharar, from where the Congress has officially fielded S. Jagmohan Singh Kang for the assembly election.
In his expulsion order issued on Friday, just hours before Punjab goes to polls to elect its new assembly, Captain Amarinder said Lakhvinder had been expelled for life for indulging in anti-party activities and working against the official candidate in Kharar.
With this expulsion, a total of 22 rebel candidates have been thrown out of the party for life following their refusal to withdraw from the poll fray and working against the official Congress candidates from various assembly constituencies.
