CHHAPAR MELA: Cong, AAP hand in glove: Sukhbir

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal has alleged the leadership of the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was hand in glove in “befooling” people of the state.“Allegations and counter-allegations of leaders of the two parties are fake, as are promises made by Capt Amarinder Singh in the run-up to the Assembly elections,” he told the media after addressing a party conference at Chhapar Mela here today.Earlier addressing the conference, Sukhbir alleged the government had organised a “fake” job mela that had left several unemployed youths “disappointed”. He asked the state to stop “enacting dramas such as fake job fairs” and claimed that just 300 job letters were distributed at the end of the “Rozgar Mela” in which 4 lakh youths had registered. The former Deputy CM gave a call for reopening investigation against Congress’ Khanna MLA Gurkirat Singh Kotli.Former minister and core committee member Maheshinder Singh Grewal moved a resolution in this connection. It was passed unanimously.He said a French national had accused Kotli of molesting her in 1994, but had not been able to record her statement in court of law due to various kinds of “pressures”.Earlier, senior leader Bikram Singh Majithia said it was unfortunate Cabinet ministers Manpreet Singh Badal and Navjot Singh Sidhu were “befooling” Punjabis.He asked Manpreet to explain if he was cheating people by promising them Rs 90,000-crore loan waiver when he had no intention of keeping his promise. —
