Captain Amarinder’s poll-eve message
Shun casteist, communal, radical politics; vote for peace, harmony, stability, development
Patiala, February 3
Appealing to voters to shun casteist, communal and radical politics, Punjab Congress president Captain Amarinder Singh has called upon them to cast their vote in favour of peace, communal harmony and stability to ensure revival of the state’s stalled development works.
In his pre-poll message to the electorate in Punjab, which votes for constituting its new assembly on Saturday, Captain Amarinder exhorted the people to vote for the much-needed positive change in the state.
The Congress chief ministerial candidate stressed that the once-progressive state of Punjab was crying for the negation of corrupt and self-seeking governance in favour of a political dispensation that can ensure the welfare and protection of its people and their future.
Captain Amarinder warned the people against being swayed by false promises and tall claims of any of the political parties and candidates in the fray, urging them to go for a healthy mix of humility, competence and experience in making their choice.
Punjab today stands at the crossroads of change, and is looking at its people to usher in a transformational agenda to revive the golden period which it has seen in the past, said the PPCC chief, adding that the future of the state was in their hands.
Warning of difficult choices made more complex by vested interests out to exploit the rich heritage and resources of the state to further their own agenda, Captain Amarinder implored the people not to allow their democratic right to vote to be compromised by succumbing to frivolous temptation.
Let not enticements, of which there would have been aplenty in the past one month, divert you from your goal of saving and securing your future and that of your children, said the Punjab Congress supremo, underscoring the importance of giving Punjab a stable and committed government, which will bring the state back on the path of progress.
